Hello,
I know the contest is already over, I just want to submit a suggestion for improvement to VW, as I own a Golf.
With cars, many things have always been the same and never change. People never question these things even when they are inconvenient. My suggestion is the following: with current cars I'm able to turn on the engine regardless of what gear I'm in. I think this is wrong. I should only be able to start the engine when I'm in the first gear or the reverse gear. When starting in a higher gear this will be useless as the engine will die and might even be harmful for the engine.
What I suggest is a function, which does the following: after I have inserted the car key and turn it to start the engine, it checks to see in what gear I am. If this is the first gear or the backwards-gear, it starts as normal. If it is in some other gear or no gear at all, instead of dying, it shows some kind of a warning and doesn't do anything at all. This function could of course be optional, which means that drivers who do not want to use it can also turn if off.
I warmly appreciate any comments regarding this idea.
Best regards,
